The Cleveland Browns look to be the NFL Picks and get back on track this week when they visit the “Big Apple” and the New York Jets in Week 14 action. The Jets themselves are coming off their best performance of the season against the Dolphins last week. Last week the Browns lost 27-21 to the Cardinals and dropped them into a tie with Tennessee at 7-5 SU for the AFC's second wild card spot. Cleveland can look forward to a favorable schedule the remainder of the year as they have home games remaining against Buffalo and San Francisco and a road contest at Cincinnati. In the loss last week to the Cardinals the Browns has four turnovers of which two of them led to 14 Arizona points. QB Derek Anderson completed 21 of 41 passes for 304 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. RB Jamal Lewis didn’t have an outstanding day but did rush for 62 yards on 16 carries. Apparently the public doesn’t believe in the Browns as they are only listed Betonline.com as a short -3.5 favorite.
The Jets took advantage of five turnovers by Miami quarterback John Beck that included three interceptions and two fumbles to win their third game of the year, two of which has been at the expense of the Dolphins. The turnovers led to a touchdown and three field goals for the Jets. In what might be his best game of the season, QB Kellen Clemens completed 15 of 24 passes for 236 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Jets had rushing game by committee as RB’s Jones and Washington combined for 143 yards on 34 carries.
Cleveland is coming off a disappointing loss to Arizona but that might be a good thing as they are 17-8 ATS after a defeat under head coach Romeo Crennel. The loss actually snapped a 6-0 ATS run. The Jets have also been on a bit of a profit run as they are 3-1 ATS in their L4. However, Cleveland is 2-1 SU & ATS the L5 years versus the Jets.
Cleveland is one of the surprise teams of the season and should handle the Jets although the New York team is coming off their best effort of the season last week.
