The Houston Texans hoping to hit the .500 mark at 7-7 in Week 15 will have to look to their backup QB once again as NFL Picks quarterback Matt Schaub will likely miss his second straight game. Schaub suffered a dislocated shoulder in Houston’s loss to Tennessee, forcing him to sit out his team’s win over Tampa Bay last week. When Coach Gary Kubiak asked about the status of his starting QB he stated "I don't see anything changing right now,”……. "We're going to get a second opinion on Matt's shoulder here in the next 24 hours. I don't think anything has changed. I don't think he'll be available." Action tonight has SBGglobal.com listing Houston as a +2 point underdog.
As dire as that might seem for the Texan faithful backup QB Sage Rosenfels who will make his second start of the season had a very good day against the Bucs. He threw three touchdown passes for 209 yards and no interceptions in the win. In a post game interview Rosenfels stated "I've always believed in myself, but I'm just trying to help this team win, trying to find wins, and we've got three left and hopefully we can win as many as we can win," He might have also took a step for further action when Head Coach Kubiac was quoted as saying "Sage has the desire and the goal to be a starter in this league,"…….. "He's always taken advantage of opportunities. … he took a big step forward in his career today."
All that might be fine and put Houston fans at ease but the Texans will also be facing another challenge on offense this week as they will have to do without running back Ron Dayne, who has an ankle injury. Dayne was replaced by rookie Darius Walker at halftime on Sunday. It was Walkers first NFL action and he finished with 46 yards rushing and 35 yards receiving.
Houston has met Denver five times in the last four seasons and have lost all five contests. It might be a tall order to expect them to do anything but that tonight.
