NFL Picks: Act 2 of the New England Patriots Spygate Saga

Another week of NFL Picks, another handful of double-digit spreads . The season of the “big chalk” in the NFL continues. In their NFL picks for week 14, bettors who backed the biggest favorites had a profitable 4-1 run (as the Jaguars, Packers, Patriots and Colts all won and covered).

Let’s break down the New York Jets vs New England Patriots and see where the money is going. SportsBetting.com currently has the New England Patriots as the -23 (-105) favorites .

When NY Jets head coach Eric Mangini and his crew travel to Gillette Field the second act of the Spygate saga will take place, Mangini's former boss Bill Belichick and his New England Patriots are anticipated to show the New York Jets how much they appreciated the controversy.

Earlier in the season when the Pats and Jets met in New York, Mangini’s team blew the proverbial whistle on a member of the New England Patriots organization trying to record footage of the Jets for the purposes of stealing signals and a storm of biblical proportions ensued. I mean really, like the Jets had something worth taking, I wonder if the real issue was the fact that Mangini was the one up to no good thinking the patriots were as devious.

Going into this week’s game the shoe was on the other foot when the Jets were allegedly caught videotaping. New York said they received permission and the drama continues.

As it stands the Jets are 3-10 SU and 4-8-1 ATS while the Pats are 13-0 SU and 10-3 ATS.

There is a lot of animosity between the two coaches and seeing as Belichick’s team is both undefeated and more talented; many are predicting a butt kicking of epic proportions as the Pats are listed as a 23½-point favorite.

The last time the Pats were a favorite in this range they failed to cash in. As a 24-point chalk against the Philadelphia Eagles, New England only won by a field goal racking up its second ATS loss of the season.

SportsBetting.com bettors are a little wary of the steep line in this matchup, as only 55% of the action is going New England’s way.
