NFL Picks Week 15: Buffalo Bills vs Cleveland Browns

by Alexander Banks on Saturday, December 15th, 2007

NFL Picks Week 15: Buffalo Bills vs Cleveland BrownsIn a surprising Week 15 matchup of Playoff NFL Picks teams, the Buffalo Bills travel to take on the Cleveland Browns.  At the beginning of the season most would not have picked this one as an important post season matchup this late in the year.  But after last weeks drubbing of the Miami Dolphins, the Bill some in at 7-6 SU overall and sit only one game back of Cleveland for the final playoff spot.  The Bill had a complete win all be it over the hapless Dolphins as rookie QB Trent Edwards completed 11 of 23 passes for 165 yards and four touchdowns.  The four touchdown performance were the most since Drew Bledsoe had that many for Buffalo in 2004.  To add insult the injury the running game was also devastating as the Bills' running attack produced two 100-yard rushers for the first time since 1996, with Fred Jackson having 115 and Marshawn Lynch adding 107.  Even with Buffalo winning for the sixth time in their last seven most believe that this game will end their playoff hopes as BetUs.com has them listed as a +5.5 underdog.

The Cleveland Browns look to put a grip on the final playoff spot this week after they escaped a tough game against the New York Jets last week.  They had to rely on two onside kick recoveries to seal the victory after the Jets had pulled within 2 points.  Cleveland QB Derek Anderson was able to perform adequately in the sloppy weather as he completed 16 of 29 passes for 2 touchdowns and an interception.  Fortunately for the Browns they were able to control the clock by running the ball as Baltimore cast off Jamal Lewis rushed for 118 yards on 21 carries.  Jamal was able to clinch the game for the Browns when he ran for 31 yards and the final score.

Some interesting trends are inside this game as Cleveland is 11-3 ATS as a favorite.  In addition they are scoring 31.0 points per game at home while going 5-1 SU & ATS. But, before jumping on the Browns they have lost their L9 ATS as December hosts against non-divisional teams. The Bills have been horrible on the road as they are averaging only 11.2 points per game going 3-3 both SU & ATS. Buffalo is also 26-12 ATS in their L38 games versus a defensive who gives up over 24 points per game.

This one might be one of the more interesting games this weekend as both teams are in unfamiliar territory.  So which one will fold under the pressure of playoff possibilities?
