Last week the San Francisco 49ers put together an effective game plan to stop Minnesota rookie sensation, RB Adrain Peterson as he managed just 3 yards on 14 carries for the entire game. Unfortunately for the 49ers they forgot about the rest of the Vikings as they jumped to a quick 27-0 halftime lead that even included defensive tackle Kevin Williams interception for a touchdown on the very first play of the game. The win put Minnesota in the sixth spot in the NFC Playoff race and in control of their own destiny. BetUs.com believes that Minnesota has the edge as the are a -10 point favorite.
Since losing to NFC North champion Green Bay 34-0 on Nov. 11, the Vikings are averaging almost 35 points during their current four game winning streak and have outscored their last three opponents by a combined score of 110-34. It is the first time in franchise history that the Vikings have won three straight games by at least 20 points.
The Vikings have done all off this with second year quarterback Tarvaris Jackson who earlier in the year was close to being replaced as the starting QB. Last week he was an efficient 16-of-25 for 163 yards and a touchdown in the win over the 49ers. Jackson seems to be taking things in stride as he tries to lead the Vikings into the playoffs when he was quoted as saying "Each game, each play you learn something," ……."That's the mind-set I'm taking. Everything in the NFL is a process and I'm just trying to learn and continue to take small steps right now."
Even with Minnesota’s current hot streak it might be a bit of a stretch to ask them to cover them number since favorites in this series playing at the Metrodome with the Bears are only 5-11 ATS the L16 meetings. However, counter to that is the fact that Minnesota a perfect 7-0 ATS versus defenses who are allowing a completion percentage of 61% or worse in the second half of the season over the last 3 seasons.
The Bears would like nothing more than to ruin Minnesota’s drive to the playoffs tonight, but will they?
