The Seattle Seahawks host the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16 after having their NFL Picks five game winning streak snapped last week when they lost to Carolina 13-10. During their five game winning streak the Seahawks racked up an average of 29.6 points per game. However, in last weeks contest the Seahawks were limited to just a field goal until they got a touchdown with seconds left in the game. QB Matt Hasselbeck finished 27 of 41 for 274 yards. Although the Seahawks scored well during their winning streak they continued to struggle on the ground. In fact last week Shaun Alexander managed only17 yards on seven carries and backup Maurice Morris had 15 yards on four carries. The Seahawks have already clinched their division and are currently tied with Tampa Bay for the third spot in the playoffs. Seattle will be playing a struggling Baltimore team and it shows as Bodog.com has them listed as a -9.5 point favorite.
Things couldn’t have gotten much worse for the Ravens as they became the first team this season to lose to the Miami Dolphins 22-16 in overtime. They could have won it but Matt Stover missed a 44 yard field goal. The loss was their eighth in a row and put them at 4-10 SU on the year. Outside of the horrible play of the Ravens RB Willis McGahee continued to have a good season as he rushed for 104 yards on 29 carries which was his fifth 100-yard game this season. Kyle Boller was 10 of 19 for 159 yards with a touchdown and interception before being knocked out of the game with a mild concussion. He is expected to return to action this week.
This will be Baltimore’s last road game of the year and it’s couldn’t come at a worse time as the Seahawks are 6-1 SU & 5-1-1 ATS this year at home. The Seahawks are also 5-1 SU & ATS in their L6 games overall.
With these teams going in opposite directions it’s no wonder this line isn’t higher than the current posted number.
