The New Orleans Saints roll into Week16 holding out hopes of reaching the NFL Picks postseason as they host the Philadelphia Eagles. They are currently tied with Washington and are one game behind Minnesota for the NFC's second wild card. The Redskins visit the Vikings on Sunday night. They do have the schedule on their side as they face two teams who are out of the playoff picture. After starting the season 0-4 the Saints are 7-3 SU in their L10. Most of the turnaround can be attributed to the play of QB Drew Brees who has 24 touchdowns and six interceptions in those same 10 ball games. QB Drew Brees threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns last week as the Saints won 31-24 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. RB Aaron Stecker who has stepped in for both of the Saints star runners, finished with 95 yards rushing and two touchdowns to go with 46 yards receiving against Arizona. New Orleans looks to improve their chances this week and have been installed as a -3.5 point favorite at Bodog.com
The Eagles who have played themselves out of the playoff picture are coming off their most enjoyable win of the year as they beat their hated rival Dallas Cowboys 10-6. The Philadelphia defense played very well and Dallas had its fewest yards of the season and didn't score a touchdown for the first time since November 2004. Brian Westbrook continued to have a great season as he rushed for 81 yards and caught nine passes for 63 yards. He leads the NFL with 1,896 yards from scrimmage. QB Donovan McNabb ended the game completing 23 of 41 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown.
New Orleans has had a tough time in covering the number as a favorite as they are a horrible 3-10 ATS as a home favorite. On the other side of the field the Eagles have done a great going 16-6 ATS in its L22 versus teams who average 260 passing yards per game. The dogs have barked in this series as they are 4-1 SU & 5-0 ATS in the L5 meetings between these teams in New Orleans.
The Eagles have been up and down all season and will look to string two games of good performance together. New Orleans seems to have gotten back some of their winning ways of last season.
