NFL Picks: Atlanta Falcons vs Arizona Cardinals

by Alexander Banks on Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

Week 16 brings the Atlanta Falcons to play the Arizona Cardinals in a game of two NFL Picks teams who are no longer in playoff contention.  After last weeks loss the Cardinals hoping to avoid a third straight loss and have a shot at fishing with a .500 record which would only be the third time they have done that since moving to Arizona in 1988.  They might have a shot since both teams they are playing in the next two weeks, including the Falcons, are a combined 6-22 SU this season.   After posting a 6-6 SU mark the Cardinals have allowed a combined 73 points the last two weeks while losing to both the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints.  Last week QB Kurt Warner was able to throw for three touchdowns but still lost 31-24 to New Orleans to knock them out of the playoffs.  Sportsbook.com has the Cardinals listed as a strong -10 point favorite

The Atlanta Falcons come into this one as one of the worst teams in the NFL.  Not only have they lost their coach to the College ranks but they have also lost five straight games (all by double digits).  The most recent debacle was a 37-3 crushing by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  The Falcons were so bad last week that their offense only managed 133 total yards and five first downs.   Chris Redman doesn’t look to be the answer to the Falcon’s QB woes as he made his second start and completed a horrible 4-of-15 passes for 34 yards and two interceptions. Their once powerful running game was only able to manager 105 yards with both Norwood and Dunn running the ball.

There doesn’t appear to be much hope for the Falcons in this one as they are a dismal Atlanta is 0-6 ATS in their L6 second half games versus teams who average over 235 passing yards per game.  For those interested in totals play the over might be the way to go as its 5-1 ATS the L6 between these teams.

Not much to watch in this one other than Cardinal faithful going for a .500 season.
