The Minnesota Vikings have the NFL Picks inside track on the final NFC playoff spot as in Week 16 they take on the Washington Redskins. However, it was good enough to help offset a horrible performance by QB Tarvaris Jackson as he threw for 249 yards but was intercepted three times. This week however they will need better performances from both of them if they are going to win and get a step closer to that final playoff spot. Apparently the public believes they have the right stuff as they are listed at SBGglobal.com as a -7 point favorite.
The Redskins come into this one with yet another must win situation and have responded up until now at they have won back-to-back games over the Chicago Bears and New York Giants. RB Clinton Portis rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries last week as Washington kept the Giants wrapping up a playoff slot. Starting QB Jason Campbell has been out with a dislocated kneecap but backup Todd Collins who was making his first start in 10 years completed only 8 of 25 passes for 166 yards but will start again this week against Minnesota.
Both teams need to win in order to continue their shot at a post season birth and to start Washington appears to have the edge as they are 27-12 ATS as a road underdog of 3.5-9.5 points. But all that might not matter as Washington is also 0-6 ATS after playing their last game on the road this season.
This one has been moved to Sunday Night as it should prove to be an interesting matchup of teams who both need to play hard.
