Minnesota Vikings vs Chicago Bears Monday Night Football Odds

by Matt Foust on Monday, December 28th, 2009

Minnesota Vikings vs Chicago Bears Monday Night Football Odds: NFC North rivals Minnesota and Chicago will meet tonight at Solider Field in the Windy City. The Bears have already been eliminated from postseason play, but the Vikings are in still in the hunt for the top seed in the NFC. Kickoff is set for 8:30pm ET on ESPN's Monday Night Football. Monday Night Football Odds at online bookmaker JustBet.com have the Vikings listed as a -8 against the spread road favorite.

Vikings Breakdown: It has been a good and bad past few week for the Vikings; the team has lost two of its last three Minnesota Vikings vs Chicago Bears Monday Night Football Oddsgames, but back-to-back losses by the Saints has left the NFC's top seed up for grabs. Minnesota is now just a game away from grasping home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Vikings will take on the Giants next weekend at home while New Orleans will face Carolina in Charlotte.

However, the Vikings cannot afford to look ahead after the display they put on against the Panthers last Sunday night. Carolina won the game 26-7, dropping Minnesota's record to 11-3, while holding Brett Favre and company to a mere 10 first downs and 297 total yards. The Vikings offense, which is averaging 28.3 points per game on the season, has averaged just 18 points per game over the last three games. No wonder Favre and Head Coach Brad Childress are bickering on the sideline, in the locker room and in the press.

All three of the Vikings losses have come on the road this year. Minnesota, which is 4-3 straight up and against the spread at opposing stadiums, has not won an away game since beating the Packers at Lambeau on November 1st.

Bears Breakdown: Chicago lost for the eighth time in its last 10 games on Sunday as the Baltimore Ravens pasted the Bears 31-7 at M&T Bank Stadium. Quarterback Jay Cutler, who looks like a horrendous acquisition at this juncture, tossed his 23rd, 24th, and 25th picks of the season (leads league) while the Bears defense gave up four touchdown strikes to Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense.

Home has treated the Bears better than the road, but only when playing the likes of Cleveland or St. Louis. Chicago has lost three of its last four games (Arizona, Philly, Green Bay) at Soldier Field by an average of 10.3 points per game.

Monday Night Football Betting Trend: The Bears are 7-3 against the spread and 3-7 straight up in their last 10 games as a home dog with a spread between 41.5 and 44.
