The Kansas City Chiefs travel to take on the New York Jets in Week 17 as two of three NFL Picks teams who made the playoffs last season only to have double digit losses this season. The New York Jets take an equally unimpressive 3-12 SU mark into this game. After a 10-6 mark last season and making the playoffs the Jets have slipped to last place in their division and a higher draft position. This season prior starter Chad Pennington had been relegated to the bench in favor of 24-year-old Kellen Clemens. But with an injury to Clemens in the New England game Pennington has had to take most of the snaps over the past two weeks and was 26 of 32 for 264 yards while starting for Clemens against Tennessee last week, but threw two interceptions in a 10-6 loss. With their problems at the QB spot and a horrible offensive line the Jets are averaging only 17.0 points per game and rank 24th in the league. Although the Jets defense ranks only 22nd in total yards given up they have improved over the second half of the season as they have given up an average of only15.7 points over their last four games.
Even sitting at 3-12 the Jets have actually played better recently as they are 5-2 ATS in their L7. Kansas City on the other hand is10-24 ATS versus AFC East opponents since 1992 For total players the Chiefs are 34-18 OVER versus teams scoring less than 17 points per game.
