Former Head Coach and current Vice President of Football Operations Marv Levy decided to grab Dick Jauron to run the Buffalo Bills this season. Jauron is a graduate of Yale and previously coached the Chicago Bears. Jauron is a delegator and will rely on his coordinators heavily.
The Bills will go with Kelly Holcomb as the starting quarterback. Holcomb attempted 230 passes completing 155 of them for a 67.4 completion percentage. Kelly also threw for 1,509 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns. Offensive Coordinator Steve Fairchild is hoping that Andre Davis, Peerless Price or Roscoe Parrish will pick up the slack left behind by the departure of Eric Moulds. Lee Evans will be the primary wide receiver in Buffalo’s offensive system in 2006. Willis McGahee will be the featured running back. In 2005, McGahee rushed for 1,247 yards on 325 carries and scored 5 touchdowns. This season, the offensive line is a little soft so look for the Bills to struggle moving the ball.
Perry Fewell takes over a group of young and promising defenders. The best past of the Bills will clearly be their defense. Defensive End Aaron Schobel led the team last year with 12 sacks. Buffalo focused on defense in the draft landing several key position players including first round draft picks Donte Whitner from Ohio State and John McCargo from North Carolina State.
