![]() The Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells is looking for a contract extension after this season from owner Jerry Jones. That makes getting the Cowboys in the playoffs this season mandatory. With that in mind, Parcells made a controversial move by grabbing troubled star wide receiver Terrell Owens in the off season. Parcells has proved he can management big egos in the past and seems to have a knack for getting the most out of those types of players. If Parcells can manage TO’s ego, the Cowboys will be a contender. Bet on the Dallas Cowboys to win the NFC East here. Drew Bledsoe will start at quarterback for the Cowboys. Bledsoe completed 300 completions on 499 attempts for 3,639 yards and 23 touch downs. Bledsoe will be the primary benefactor from the Terrell Owens acquistion. Owens will be the starting wide receiver and number one option for the Dallas offense. Terry Glenn will be the second receiving option while Jason Witten will start at tight end. Both players will have reduced production stats due to the arrival of Terrell Owens. Julius Jones will start as the running back. Jones racked up 993 yards and 5 touchdown in 2005. The 2006 Dallas Cowboys offense will be significantly improved in 2006.
The 2005 Cowboys defense held their own. Parcells addressed their needs at linebacker in the off season when they drafted Bobby Carpenter in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Bobby’s father Rob Carpenter was a running back for Parcell during his days with the Giants in the 1980’s. Carpenter is expected to play opposite of Demarcus Ware. Dallas acquired Akin Ayodele in the free agent market. The Cowboys defense will be much stronger than last season.
