Hip Hop mogul and Miami Beach resident Sean "Diddy" Combs will be the headlining act for the 2006 NFL Opening Kickoff concert on Miami Beach tonight. The concert will take place just before the league's regular season begins that night when the Miami Dolphins visit the reigning Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Diddy will be the featured act of the night and the show will also have performances by Tego Calderon, Cassie, DJ Riz and others during the event.
Some segments from the show will air on NBC's "NFL Opening Kickoff 2006" special leading into the Dolphins vs. Steelers game. The show features a performance from Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, by country rockers Rascal Flatts and Martina McBride will sing the national anthem.
The concert officially opens the NFL's "One Game. One Dream." program that runs from opening day until Super Bowl XLI in Miami on February 4th, 2006. There will be a NFL Kickoff Celebration which will include a punt, pass and kick competition, youth football clinics, autograph signings and other fan friendly events.
