Entering Week 16, there were four AFC teams who shared identical 8-6 records: the Jets, the Bengals, the Broncos, and the Jaguars. Jacksonville fell to 8-7 with its home loss and with Denver’s 24-23 win over Cincinnati on Sunday, moves the Jets one game ahead of Cincinnati and Jacksonville, and into a tie with Denver.
The only downside to New England’s win from a Jets’ perspective was the Patriots clinched the AFC East Sunday. But the Jets now have a great opportunity to join their division rivals in the postseason.
