Mark Brunnell says he is ready to go against Dallas

Mark Brunnell says he is ready to go against DallasComing off of a bye week, the Washington Redskins should be rested and prepared to host the Dallas Cowboys. However the Redskins will be weak on many fronts. Starting quarterback Mark Brunell was reported to have a strained rib muscle and is questionable although he assured the press he would be ready to play. Running back Clinton Portis has a severe strained ankle following and injured collar bone from the beginning of the season and has been listed as probable. Wide receiver Santana Moss has not practiced in two weeks and is doubtful due to a soar hamstring. Also receiver Antwaan Randle El who returned a punt for 87 yards against the Colts is probable due to a heel injury.

The Cowboys on the other hand, are not only healthy they are stoked. After winning over the Carolina Panthers and overcoming a 14 point deficit, quarter back Tony Romo looked stellar in his NFL debut. Coach Bill Parcells was questioned as to why he benched starter Drew Bledsoe, but Romo was quick to demonstrate why. Romo passed for 270 yards hitting six different receivers, for a touch down and one interception. More important he finally got Terrel Owens to smile, the star wide receiver caught 9 passes for a season high 107 yards and a pass for a two point conversion. Owens approved of Romo’s ability to play and complimented Romo’s “putting the ball in the right place”.

Tony Romo’s capacity to scramble is also an asset acquired with him on the field, very different from the lack of mobility displayed by Bledsoe. Romo ran four times for 18 yards sparking a rushing attack that gained 154 yards. Julius Jones and Marion Barber III also ran the attack and they scored 3 touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Dallas’ defense also rebounded from their last performance where they permitted the New York Giants to gain 328 yards. The Cowboys held the Carolina Panthers to a season low 204 yards and forced them to turnovers three times. The Dallas Cowboys will probably breeze by a Redskin team that has lost three in a row and could be heading for a 2-6 after this game.

The Washington Redskins will have to contain both aerial and ground attacks from the Cowboys and being a defense that permits 110.7 rushing yards per game the Cowboys could have a field day rushing up field and scoring as the gain momentum for the passing game, which if not contained could prove to be one of Tony Romo’s career highlights.

Dallas road dog -3. Take it. Tease it, Parlay it to the over 42. This will be an easy game for the Cowboys and we now know they can score. Don’t put the house on it but try to bank on this “seems pretty easy pick”.
