Everyone knows that Nick Saban is a perfectionist and that is exactly what the Miami Dolphins needed. Saban was able to get Miami believing they can win again. It has taken him two season to sift through the teams roster to find players willing to sacrifice everything to win championships. With the departure of Ricky Williams for the entire 2006 season, the Dolphins should not be distracted and could make a deep run into the playoff
The Dolpins will rely on former Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Dante Culpepper to act as field general. Culpepper is coming off a knee injury but has looked very solid in training camp and in limited snaps during the pre-season. Second year Running Back Ronnie Brown will take over as the featured runner. Brown racked up 907 rushing yards last season and should improve that number now that he does not have to share time with Ricky Williams. Chris Chambers is coming off the best year in his career and should continue to blossom in 2006.
Nick Saban’s new defensive schemes have been embraced by Jason Taylor who recorded 12 sacks in 2005. Vonnie Holliday and Kevin Carter were key off season acquistions last season that helped Taylor thrive. Zach Thomas lead the team in tackles once again with 158. The Linebackers will miss the “Retired for 4 Days” Junior Seau who signed with Dolphins arch-nemisis New England Patriots. Seau coming out of retirement could be all the inspiration Miami needs to defeat Patriots in Foxboro on October 8th, 2006.
