The Minnesota Vikings organization has a clean slate going into the 2006 season and a disappointing season in 2005. The Vikings hired Brian Childress as their new head coach to help put the Lake Minnetonka incident behind them. Minnesota hopes they can regain past glory and has even redesigned the teams uniforms to signify a fresh start.
The Vikings will go with 15 year verteran Brad Johnson at quarterback. Johnson is at the later stages of his career but was able to perform last season after Culpepper went down with a knee injury. Johnson threw for 1,885 yards and 12 touchdowns on 294 attempts in 2005. Minnesota drafted quarterback Tarvaris Jackson in the second round but no one believes he is going to be the answer in the future. With a beefed up offensive line, former Ravens running back Chester Taylor will get the nod. Taylor signed as a free agent in the off season and it esctatic to be out of the Jamal Lewis shadow. Wide receiver Troy Williamson could have a break out year but won’t start. Travis Taylor and Jermaine Wiggins should lead the team in receiving.

The Minnesota Vikings addressed their need at linebacker when they drafted Chad Greenway from Iowa in the first round. The Vikings are hoping that Greenway will develop into the defensive leader. Minnesota grabbed free agent strong safety Tank Williams from the Tennessee Titans in the off season to fill the position left behind by the departure of Corey Chavous.
