NFL Picks Week 15: The NFC east has been a back-and-forth, seesaw battle between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys. With the G-Men currently owning the tiebreak over the ‘Boys, and with both teams scheduled to meet in the season finale, the importance of the following two games will be magnified. I will give you my picks for each team’s games this week, and see where things are likely to stand a week from today.
For the Dallas Cowboys [-7], they’ll be on the road this week, as they try to snap a two-game losing streak when they visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers [+7]. Dallas comes into this game with a record of 2-4 on the road, while the Bucs are just 3-4 at home. This will be a battle of two teams whose head coaches could find themselves unemployed at seasons end.
For my pick for this week, the Buccaneers [+7], their head coach isn’t worried about his job. Even after watching the Dolphins fire Tony Sparano and the Chiefs give Todd Haley the boot, Raheem Morris isn’t too concerned. Morris believes that this is just part of the job description and isn’t about to lose sleep over it.
“When you’re coaching, you are always on the hot seat. That’s the mentality of what we do,” he said. “We were on the hot seat when we were 10-6. If we didn’t go to the playoffs, we could still get fired. I try to tell guys this all the time, if I was worried about being fired, I certainly would not be coaching. I would have taken that physical education job in Long Island that I turned down 15 years ago at this point.”
For the (7-6) New York Giants [-7], their head coach’s seat might have cooled off just a bit after mounting a furious comeback last week to beat the Cowboys at home. Regaining control of the NFC East, Eli Manning and the G-men will be at home this week, as they welcome the last-place (4-9) Washington Redskins [+7] to the Meadowlands.
I certainly like the Giants to win this game by 10 points or more, as last week’s win over Dallas might have been the shot in the arm this team needed to refocus and begin its playoff push. Manning has been unbelievable this season, especially in crunch time. Eli has thrown 25 touchdowns this season and only 12 interceptions for a total of 4105 yards and an outstanding quarterback rating of 95.5.
