NFL Top 12 Teams for Week 5

by Thomas Jensen on Thursday, October 5th, 2006

NFL Top 12 Teams for Week 5Week 4 certainly shook up our list of top 12 NFL teams. We saw the once promising Jaguars fall off the map, the Bears justify their top spot, and teams such as the Vikings and Jets make me look good. You see, when these clubs were over .500, you were clamoring for them to be amongst the top 12. Who looks like a genius now?

Rank              (PVR)             Team
1                     1                    Bears
Destroying the top NFC team from 2005 will cement you as the team to beat any day of the week.
Rank              (PVR)             Team
2                     2                    Colts
That was a sloppy yet gutsy performance in New York versus the Jets. Indianapolis will only get better once their injuries heal.
Rank              (PVR)             Team
3                     5                    Ravens
Their offense still stinks, but that defense is racking up the wins.
Rank              (PVR)             Team
4                     10                  Eagles
Yes, their injuries are a concern. But, how can you argue with their success?

5                     3                    Bengals

One loss does not make a season and the Bengals will bounce back.
Rank              (PVR)             Team
6                     4                    Seahawks
There’s no shame in losing to the best team in the league. However, there is a shame in not scoring a touchdown.
Rank              (PVR)             Team
7                     9                    Falcons
That’s more like it. A tough defense and a great ground attack. Vick and Co. have to be better in the air though.
Rank              (PVR)             Team
8                     12                  Patriots
Here come the Pats. New England has found their passing attack and we see them only getting better.
Rank              (PVR)             Team
9                     7                    Chargers
Mr. Rivers goes from facing the Ravens to the Steelers. Yikes. I smell another drop next week.
Rank              (PVR)             Team
10                   11                  Broncos
Denver was off in Week 4, but their defense has to be given the benefit of the doubt. A big test looms Monday night.
Rank              (PVR)             Team
11                   -                     Cowboys
Welcome Dallas. But we believe you’ll need to win in Philly this week to stay in the top 12. Good luck.
Rank              (PVR)             Team
12                   8                    Saints
We knew we’d regret putting them in the top 12. Is this the last time we see them on this list?
Honorable Mentions
Rams (They have got to be the worst 3-1 team of all-time)
Panthers (Dare we believe they are on their way back?)
Steelers (You didn’t think we would simply forget about the champs even though they are 1-2, did you?)
