The San Diego Chargers, the NFL leader in victories with 14 this season, are favored by oddsmakers to win their first Super Bowl title. San Diego is the top seed in the AFC and will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs which start this weekend. The Chargers have a first round bye. The LaDainian Tomlinson-led Chargers are a 5-2 choice to win the NFL championship, according to Las Vegas Sports Consultants, which advises Nevada sports books on betting lines. The Chicago Bears, who went 13-3 and are the top seed in the NFC, are the second favorite to win the Super Bowl. The Bears have 7-2 odds to win the championship on Feb. 4 in Miami. The Baltimore Ravens are third, at 9 to 2, followed by the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints at 6 to 1. The New England Patriots are 9 to 1. The New York Giants are given 40-to-1 odds of winning the title. The New York Jets are 50 to 1, while the Kansas City Chiefs have the longest odds, 70 to 1. This weekend’s (Jan. 6-7) wild-card lines and totals for Saturday Dec. 6 have the Indianapolis Colts -7 point favorites over the Kansas City Chiefs with a 51-point total and Seattle Seahawks -3 point favorites over the Dallas Cowboys with a total of 46 ½ . On Sunday Jan. 7, the New England Patriots are installed -9 point favorites over the New York Jets with a 38-point total while the Philadelphia Eagles are -7 point favorites over the New York Giants with a total of 46. The Colts, who open with the playoffs finished the season covering 5-of-8 games against the spread in games played at home. The Seahawks finished its home schedule covering ATS 4-of-8 with one push. The Patriots were inconsistent at home ATS only covering in two of eight games. The Eagles covered five home games ATS.
