Super Bowl XLI: Brian Urlacher is the face of the Chicago BearsChicago Bears middle-linebacker Brian Urlacher is on a business trip with one objective and that is to finish the season with a win. That was the objective at the start of the season and nothing has changed with only one game to go.

You hear the talk about the pressure Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is under to produce in the big game. It’s not any different for the Bears middle-linebacker Urlacher. While Manning is the face of the Colts, Urlacher is the face of the Bears. Sure, there is plenty of talent playing for Chicago but its Urlacher whom people think about when the Bears are mentioned, just as Hall of Fame linebackers Bill George, Dick Butkas and Mike Singletary were before him. The face of Chicago  football is defense and in 2006 that is Urlacher.

"I know all about it," Urlacher said. "The media in Chicago has talked about it all the time since Day One. That's all I've heard about. It's a huge honor to be able to play the same position as Bill George, Dick Butkus and Mike Singletary but it's not fair for me to be compared to them because they are in the Hall of Fame."

Urlacher doesn’t need to worry about comparisons right now. If he takes care of business as he has since getting drafted by the Bears number one in the 2000 draft, he will be in the Pro-Football Hall of Fame too.

Now that Chicago has made it to Miami for Super Bowl XLI, Urlacher expects the Bears to finish what they started.

“To finish is to be Super Bowl champs,” Urlacher said. “That is our number one thing and was our goal when coach got here. We actually talked a lot more about it this season than we had in the past because we thought we had the team to do it this year.”

“After what we went through last year, coming out of nowhere and winning 11 games. We thought this year we had a big chance to do it. Last week we put a good fourth quarter together against the Saints and finished that game.

“That’s been our motto all year for the most part, finish every play, finish every game and whatever happens, happens. But make sure you finish every time.”
