The Saints will be marching in … right into Texas Stadium to play the rootin’ tootin’ Cowboys on Sunday Night. Both teams boast an 8-4 record and leadership of their divisions, Dallas in the NFC East and New Orleans in the NFC South. Both sport a young quarterback playing awesome with a great passing offensive game. Both can brag about having a pair of stud running backs.
The Cowboys have the edge though with a defense in the top 12 or better rankings on four key elements. The Cowboys are the 7th ranked defense in points permitted per game and yards allowed per game, with 18.2 points and 288.8 yards per game. They are 4th against the rush allowing an average of 90.3 and slack a little with the 12 rank at pass yard allowed with 198.4.

The Saints are not statistically far behind on the paper, but they are however ranked 25th defending the run by allowing 133.1 yards versus the 4th place 90.3 yards allowed by Dallas. Here’s where the fun begins, because in all this while, Dallas has not faced a pair like Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush even at home.
Workhorse Deuce McAllister had 26 runs with 136 yards but the bulldozer named Reggie Bush punched in 3 touch downs on 10 attempts for 37 yards and 1 catch to the end zone along with 8 other receptions for 131 yards. That’s not including a receiveing squad that can always add a hand. Drew Brees has also been stellar and threw for 17 completions of 28 attempts gaining 186 yards and one touch down against the Niners… They made their statement with a 34-10 win over San Francisco.

The Cowboys may not have met Deuce, Reggie and Drew yet but they can hold their own. Serving up a plate best served cold to Jeremy Shockey and the rest of the Giants. Shockey’s rants that there was no way of Dallas going into New York to pull a win came back to haunt him as the Cowboys won on a “Dramatica” last second game winning field goal.
In an exchange of touchdowns and field goals the Cowboys took a game away from the Giants at home in the big apple. Shockey’s 17 yard reception to start the first quarter seemed a guarantee of the rants since the Cowboys’ opening drive sputtered and they kicked off. Not so with the second drive where Miles Austin returned a 33 yard punt and set up a Tony Romo 23 yard pass to Jason Witten.
After a scuffle for possession and Dallas scoring a one yard touch down though Marion Barber III the Cowboys not only tied but gained momentum and traded off two touch downs and two field goals with the Giants. In the end Martin Gramatica, who just signed with Dallas replacing cut Mike Venderjagt, won the game for Parcell’s boys.

Dallas is a good team but to beat the Saints by a touch down and a half is a little hard to predict. So, in this game I have to say +7½ for me. The total is 47, don’t be chicken, go over. Good Luck!!
