EPGA Tour: Odds To Win 2011 Omega Dubai Desert Classic

by Scott Burgess on Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

World No.1 golfer Lee Westwood, No.2 Martin Kaymer and No.3 Tiger Woods are in action, Feb 9-12@10:10 PM ET, for the 2011 Omega Dubai Desert Classic, at the Majlis course. Tiger won here twice back in 2006 and 2008. EPGA oddsmakers have Martin Kramer as 9/2 odds favorite to win the 2011 Omega Dubai Desert Classic. But, Tiger Woods is a close second at 11/2 odds. Let’s take a look at the top-3 favorites so you can make your 2011 Omega Dubai Desert Classic Predictions.

EPGA Tour: Odds To Win 2011 Omega Dubai Desert Classic Martin Kaymer 9/2- has won nine tournaments on the tour including four in 2010 to win the Race to Dubai, formerly the Order of Merit, for the first time. Among those wins was the 2010 PGA Championship, a victory which made him only the second German to win a major championship, after Bernhard Langer. In January 2011, Kaymer claimed his third Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship title in four years and displaced Tiger Woods as number two in the world rankings

Tiger Woods 11/2- believes he needs more time to master his new swing, but insisted his game is progressing well and he is trying to get better each and every week. My goals are the same. If I am in the event, it’s to win. Simple as that! I have certainly lost a lot more tournaments than I have won, but I tee it up to win," said Woods who last hoisted a trophy in triumph on November 15, 2009, but could well end the losing streak this week. He’ll be making his sixth appearance in Dubai.

Rory McIlroy 6/1- is making his sixth appearance in the event, who incidentally won his first professional title here in Dubai in 2009. "I have played this event more times than anywhere else. It’s always nice to get back to a golf course that I have had success on before. He is keen to repeat the 2009 performance in an event where the presence of the world’s top three has added to an already prestigious event.

MY PICK: Lee Westwood 10/1- is one of the few golfers who have won tournaments on every major continent, including victories on the European Tour and the PGA Tour. He won the 2000 European Tour Order of Merit, and the renamed 2009 Race to Dubai. He has a career 20 wins in Europe.
