Top-3 Northern Trust Open Favorites:
Phil Mickelson – 7/1 – leads the all-time money list at the Northern Trust Open, where he won twice in 2009 and 2010 while finishing second four years ago. After his T9 at Pebble Beach, the four-time major champion said, "I feel like I'm right on the cusp of playing some great golf." His best finish on the PGA Tour in 2011 is 2nd at the Farmers Insurance Open. He ranks T67th in Driving Distance on the PGA TOUR.
Steve Stricker – 12/1- holds true to form at Riviera where he's finished T11, T2 and won in the last three years. His best finish on the PGA Tour in 2011 is T4th at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. He ranks 11th in Career Earnings on the PGA Tour.
Matt Kuchar – 20/1- has three consecutive top-10s to begin the year, picking up right where he left off in 2010, Kooch took three weeks off. So he's rested and ready to play better here, where his best was a T20 last year. His best finish on the PGA Tour in 2011 is T5th at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He ranks 72nd in Career Earnings on the PGA Tour.
MY UNDERDOG PICK: Anthony Kim 40/1 – In four starts, Kim has three top-20s, including a tie for sixth two weeks ago in San Diego. He also played well in L.A. last year until the final round when he shot 78. He's reinvented himself and that should start paying dividends. His best finish on the PGA TOUR in 2011 is T6th at the Farmers Insurance Open. He ranks 88th in Career Earnings on the PGA TOUR.
