Odds to win the Masters 2013

by Scott Burgess on Monday, February 18th, 2013

Augusta National Golf Course is the place to be, Thursday April 11th-14th, for the 2013 Masters. The 2012 Masters was won by Bubba Watson in a playoff with Louis Oosthuizen. Oddsmakers don’t like Bubba’s chances of a second straight green jacket. Who is the favorite heading into Augusta? PGA oddsmakers have Tiger Woods listed as 11/2 favorite to win the 2013 Masters and receive his fifth green jacket. Let’s preview the Top 3 big guns listed as favorites. Be sure to check the 2013 Masters Odds and make your predictions before the action begins.

Tiger Woods (11/2) is always a favorite at Augusta regardless of what he does and doesn’t do leading up to the first Major. He already has a win in 2013 winning at Torrey Pines, again! He is a four time winner here with his last green jacket in 2005. Woods has the talent to get back on a torrid pace of winning majors, as he already has 14 to his credit coming and he is still just 37 years old.

Rory McIlroy (7/1) missed the cut at the 2013 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship by four shots, two rounds of 75 leaving him tied for 98th in a field of 126. Only once since 2008 has the 23-year-old finished lower than that in a non-major European Tour event. He admits he was “very disappointed” after his first tournament with Nike clubs ended in failure. Ever since his Masters meltdown in 2011, the Irishman has been head and shoulders above every single golfer on the planet. He has won two majors, has risen to world No. 1 in the rankings, has won tournaments galore on both sides of the Atlantic, has starred in Europe’s famous Ryder Cup comeback

Phil Mickelson (10/1) has 41 PGA Tour wins to his credit, and he has four major championships in his career. Three of those majors are green jackets here at Augusta, and it is clear that Mickelson is well on his way to a fourth sooner than later. He finished third last year at the 2012 Masters, and that was the 10th time that he finished in the Top 10 at Augusta National in his career. Even more impressive is the fact that Mickelson hasn’t finished outside of the Top 30 since missing the cut in 1997.
