Tiger Woods has a chance at history this weekend at the 2008 Arnold Palmer Invitational, a tournament he’s won four times in a row from 2000-03. With a win he’ll be third on the all-time win list with 64, tying Ben Hogan. He’s got two PGA Tour wins in two tournaments; he won the 2008 World Golf Championships and the 2008 Dubai Desert Classic. He’s 100% in all tourneys entered in 2008. So it’s easy to see why Bodog.com has Tiger Woods favored as 11/10 odds to win, AGAIN! But are there any other players that could challenge Tiger this weekend?
Last year’s winner Vijay Singh might have something to say about it. His last win was at this tourney, but in the history of this event only two players have gone on to repeat as Champs. Loren Roberts (1994-1995) and you guessed it Tiger Woods (2000-03). Vijay has entered seven events this year and he’s made six cuts. His best finish was at the 2008 AT&T Pebble Beach pro-am where he finished second. He has two Top 10 finishes and four TOP 25 finishes. Vijay Singh is currently listed as 20/1 odds to repeat.
Phil Mickelson’s back in action after winning the 2008 Northern Trust Open. He’s made 4 of 5 cuts with one win and one second place finish at the FBR Open. If Phil’s driving accuracy is good this weekend he can definitely compete with Tiger. He’s always great around the greens and at putting; it’s just his wayward drives that screw him up. Still though, Bodog.com has Phil Mickelson as 10/1 odds fav to win.
This tourney has 15 players under the age of 30 who have PGA Tour wins under their belt. Most Notably:

Underdog Alert: Ryuji Imada has six starts this year, he’s made the cut five times and is currently seventh on the FedExCup points list. He's finished in the top five in three of last four starts, including runner-up efforts at the Buick Invitational and the PODS Championship. Ryuji Imada is listed at 50/1. The Low Down: 14 of 29 past winners have been players who have major championships to their credit. Tiger is playing unbelievable golf, like nothing ever seen in any sport.
