2012 Masters Odds

The first full week of April is upon us and all eyes are on Augusta National Golf Club, as the2012 Masters tees-off, Thursday April 5th-8th, in the city of Augusta, Georgia.  The best players in the world will be there trying to win a green jacket during golfs first major of the year. Golf oddsmakers have listed Tiger Woods as 4/1 favorite to win the 2012 Masters. Let’s take a look at the top three favorites. Be sure to check the 2012 Masters Odds and make your predictions before the first shot is hit.

Tiger Woods (4/1) – the four-time Masters champion is on a seven-year drought at Augusta National, where he last won in 2005 when he defeated Chris DiMarco in a one-hole playoff. Woods feels as if he is clearly trending in a positive direction after his demolition of Bay Hill, where he led the field in total driving, birdies, greens in regulation and strokes gained putting. “The whole idea is to get your game together and have it going the way you want at the time you want,” he said. “There are four times a year you want to be playing your best, and this is one of them.” Said Tiger.

Rory McIlroy (11/2) – since his PGA Championship win last August, McIlroy has finished outside the top 10 just once. In five starts this year, he has not finished outside the top five, which includes a win at last month’s Honda Classic. McIlroy’s work ethic and belief in himself have also increased. “He knows what he wants to do now and he knows how to do it.” Everyone remembers his collapse in the final round at last year’s Masters after shooting an 80 on the final day. So what has he learned? One of the lessons McIlroy learned last year was that his playing partner in the final round, Angel Cabrera, dictated the pace of play. It got too quick and McIlroy couldn’t hit the brakes and lost control of his round. That won’t happen this year at Augusta National.

Phil Mickelson (11/1) – In the final round of the 2012 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Mickelson rallied from 6 back, winning with a final round score of 8-under and beating Tiger Woods by 11 strokes that day. He had a second place finish at the 2012 Northern Trust Open and a T-4 at last week’s Shell Houston Open. The three-time Masters champion didn’t get all those Green Jackets in his closet by slacking off on his pre-Masters practice sessions at the Augusta. Mickelson believes that the best way to approach the greens at Augusta National is to learn them by feel rather than relying on what your eyes tell you.

The Bottom Line: Tiger is feeling great about his recent win and he knows this course more than anyone else. The same goes for Mickelson. Want to dominate the books this season with some of the best PGA Picks experts in the business? Then sign up right now and get PGA Picks Free!
