2010 Masters Predictions: The 76th Masters Tournament will take place this week at Augusta National Golf Course in Augusta, Georgia. Participants in the season's first major will play for a $7,000,000 purse on the par 72, 7435 yard course. Tiger Woods elected to make his return to golf at Augusta, which is fitting given his past history at the course. Woods won 
the Masters in his first appearance at the event as a professional in 1997; he has garnered three other titles at Augusta since that historic victory, winning Green Jackets in 2001, 2002, and 2005. Since his 2005 Masters win, Woods has finished third once, second twice, and sixth once at golf's most prestigious major.
Woods has not won a major since capturing the 2008 U.S. Open title at Torrey Pines in San Diego. The dry spell is the third longest of his career as he went 11 major tournaments between his first major win in 1997 and his second in 1999 and he went ten majors between his 2002 U.S. Open crown and 2005 Masters championship.
Ernie Els has three majors to his credit but he has not won one since securing the 2002 Open Championship at Muirfield. Els, however, has played well this year, rebounding from a sub-par 2009. The South African ranks number one on the 2010 PGA Tour moneylist and he has four top 10 finishes in eight 2010 events played. Els took 44th at the Shell Houston Open last weekend, but he had back-to-back first place finishes prior to that, winning the World Golf Championships at California and the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.
