Masters 2010 Picks: Augusta National Golf Course will host the 76th Masters Tournament this week as the event is scheduled to get underway on Thursday, April 8th. Masters 2010 Picks at online bookmaker Bodog.com have the beleaguered Tiger Woods listed as a 4 to 1 favorite to win the Green Jacket while two time Masters champ Phil Mickelson is the second most favored player at 10 to 1 odds.
Tiger Woods, despite being the world's greatest golfer, is a surprising favorite this week considering he has not played, at 
least as a professional, since November of 2009. That event, of course, took place before Woods' world came unraveled amidst revelations of his adulterous private life. However, given Woods intensely competitive nature, he may not be a bad bet to take home a fifth Green Jacket.
The Stanford product is second only to Jack Nicklaus in major wins at 14 and he trails only the Golden Bear in Masters win with four (Nicklaus 6). Woods won Masters championships in 1997 (his first major win), 2001, 2002, and 2005. His average finish at Augusta since his 2005 title is 3.25, including last year's sixth place result.
Phil Mickelson comes into to this year's Masters without the question marks that Woods has surrounding his game, but the 39 year old has not played his best golf in 2010. Mickelson is presently 53rd on the PGA Tour's money list and he has just one top 10 finish (eighth at AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in February) in seven events this season. Not only has his presence been scarce at the top of the leaderboard, his average 2010 finish is a lackluster 25th.
Mickelson does have a good history at Augusta, though, winning the Masters in 2004 and 2006. The San Diego native finished fifth there last year with a nine under par tally of 279, a score that was highlighted by 67 shot final round.
