Phil Mickelson Odds to win the Masters 2011

Phil Mickelson will begin his defense of the Green Jacket this week when the PGA Tour arrives at Augusta National Golf Course for the 2011 Masters. Mickelson, who won his third Masters last year with a 16 under par 272, will tee off at 1:48pm ET on Thursday, April 7th in a group (32) that includes Australian Geoff Ogilvy and No. 1 Amateur Peter Uihlein. Phil Mickelson Odds to win the Masters 2011 are currently set at +550, which makes him the favorite to win the season's first major.

Phil Mickelson scored six top 10's last season, including his first place finish at Augusta and his fourth place run at the U.S. Phil Mickelson Odds to win the Masters 2011Open, but he did not close out the year in great fashion. The San Diego native had one missed cut and an average finish of 24 in his last five 2010 events.

Mickelson's poor play did not carry over to the start of the 2011 season, though, as he recorded two top 10 results in his first three tournaments. His next four outings were less than stellar (32.8 average finish), but he got things turned around last weekend in Houston, winning his first event of the season.

Mickelson placed at the top of the leaderboard in the Shell Houston Open with a 20 under par 268; he finished three strokes ahead of Scott Verplank and Chris Kirk, who tied for second place. Steve Stricker and Aaron Baddeley rounded out the top five as both notched scores of 275.

Mickelson's strong showing at Houston is a good sign, but even had he played poorly there, he would be among the favorites at Augusta this week. "Lefty" has three wins and eight top five finishes in his last 10 Masters appearances.
