Masters Odds 2010: Tiger Woods vs Phil Mickelson Masters Picks: Phil Mickelson has long been the pretender to Tiger's throne and, with that in mind, Sportsbook.com is giving golf fans an opportunity to capitalize on the rivalry between the world's number one and three golfers. The online bookmaker's Masters Picks and Master Odds 2010 have the two paired together with Woods presently listed as a -155 favorite to finish ahead of Mickelson in the season's first major.
Tiger Woods has not played this season, taking time off to deal with the crisis created by his adulterous ways, but he is
coming off a tremendous 2009. Woods failed to win a major last year, but he did record seven wins in 18 sanctioned events and he finished inside the top 10 fifteen times. To no one's surprise, those numbers resulted in the California native topping the PGA Tour's moneylist with a whopping $10,508,163.
Woods has been nothing short of brilliant in 15 appearances at Augusta National. The 34 year old's average finish at the course is an unbelieveable 12.4 and, in addition to his four Masters wins (1997, 2001, 2002, 2005), Woods also has ten top 10 finishes at golf's most prestigious tournament. While his game might be a bit rusty from the time off, it would be stunning if Woods were not a major contender this weekend, especially considering he has never missed at cut at Augusta or placed worse than 22nd there as a professional.
Phil Mickelson has been off his game for most of the 2010 season, manufacturing just one top 10 finish in seven Tour events. His uncharacteristic play has resulted in a 53rd ranking on the moneylist and an average finish of 25.
Augusta may be the place for Mickelson to get things together, though, as he does have two Masters wins and 12 top 10 finishes at the legendary course (17 appearances). Mickelson has been extremely consistent at the Masters over the past 11 years, placing out of the top 10 just one time since 1999 (average finish in that time period = 6.2).
Mickelson has finished ahead of Woods five times in the last 11 Masters, including last year when he placed fifth and Tiger tied for sixth.
