2008 MastersThe first of golf’s four Major Tournaments gets underway this week with The Masters starting April 7-13. The pristine Augusta National Golf Course is one of the best in the world with its hard, fast, undulating greens to its beautiful foliage around the course. Last year’s Champ Zack Johnson will be looking to repeat for his second green jacket. Oddsmakers at Bodog.com don’t like his chances as Zack Johnson is listed at 50/1 odds to repeat as Masters Champion. Get your 2008 Masters pick in now at Bodog.com, where real players play!

The biggest talk surrounding the first Major of the year is Tiger Woods chances of winning all four Majors, known as the Grand Slam. To read more on Tigers Grand Slam odds…click here! Tiger is once again the favorite to win the 2008 Masters as Bodog.com has Tiger Woods as 1/1 odds favorite. Since he won it in 2005 for the fourth time, he’s come close but hasn’t won. In 2006 he finished tied for third, and last year he finished tied for second, just two shots back from winner Zack Johnson. Tiger won his first four tournaments of the 2008 season and recently finished fifth at the WGC CA Chanmpionship.

Phil Mickelson is second in line as Bodog.com has Phil Mickelson as 10/1 odds to win his third green jacket. I don’t like his chances as his play has been somewhat erratic. In eight tourneys played he has one win, 2008 Northern Trust Open, which was a weak field and an easy win for Phil. Since then he hasn’t been great except for finishing second at the FBR Open. During the two World Golf Championships, which was loaded with the world’s top players, Phil finished no better than T-17 and T-20. Last year’s Masters saw Phil finish T-24.

Since 2004 Vijay Singh hasn’t been himself on the course— in the past six majors he’s missed three cuts and finished no better than a tie for 13th, and last year he dropped to 13th in the world. After missing the cut at the 2007 PGA Championship he knew it was time for a change. Bodog.com somehow likes Vijay as 20/1 odds to win, which I think is insane! In nine tourneys entered he has four Top 10 finishes. He fared well in both World Golf Championships finishing T-2 and T-3. Last year at the Masters Vijay finished T-13.

There are some Europeans in the lineup that can give it a go. Padraig Harrington is listed at 25/1 odds, he was 2007 British Open winner, some say that the greens at the British are almost as hard and fast as the greens at Augusta. He has two Top 10 finishes. Retief Goosen, former U.S. Open winner, has a chance but his play of late has been sporadic. His best finish was at the 2008 WGC-CA where he finished T-2; beyond that he only has two Top 25 finishes. Retief Goosen is listed at 28/1 oddsto win.

2008 Masters at Augusta National G&C
Teeoff: Thurs, April 7-13 9:00 AM ET
Line: Bodog.com
Pick: Tiger Woods 1/1

The Bottom Line:
Since the 2000 Masters, Americans have won six times out of eight. Tiger Woods has won three while Phil Mickelson has won two. Vijay Singh and Mike Weir are the other winners. The pressure is squarely on Tiger Woods. Get your Masters pick in now at Bodog.com.
