2009 US Open Betting Odds Sunday Update: Just when things could seemingly not get any more bizarre at Bethpage Black, along comes Ricky Barnes to add a heaping helping of the surreal. The California native, who has never won a PGA event, shot a 5 under-par second round and is currently atop the leaderboard at 8 under-par for the tournament. Amazingly enough, Barnes can be snagged at +1500 odds right now at online bookmaker Sportsbook.com.2009 US Open Betting Odds Sunday Update

Ricky Barnes, who won the 2002 U.S. Amateur, has looked, well, un-Barnes like. Since turning pro back in 2003, the former Arizona Wildcat has done little on the Tour, which makes his performance over the past couple of days all the more surprising. The 28 year old had to qualify just to get into the Open this year, and his season best finish of 47th at last week's St. Jude Classic relegated him to less than an afterthought when winners were being projected for the 2009 US Open.

Keeping Barnes close company on the Open scorecard is another American, South Carolina native Lucas Glover. Glover bested his fellow countryman with a 6 under-par score of 64 in yesterday's second round action and is just one stroke behind him for the tournament at -7. He is currently listed at +500 moneyline odds to win his first major.

Still hanging around with the top players is Canadian Mike Weir. Weir is third in the standings after two rounds of play with a total score of 134 (6 under-par). Sportsbook.com now has the 2003 Masters champ listed as the favorite to win this weekend at +350 moneyline odds.

Also in the hunt are David Duval with a 3 under-par 137 and Phil Mickelson with a 1 under-par 139. A win by Duval would be almost as shocking as Barnes claiming the top spot and the Jacksonville native can be picked up at a great +4000 moneyline value right now. Mickelson, who was installed as the second favorite to win this weekend prior to tee off on Thursday, is presently listed at +700 on the moneyline.

Tiger Woods, who is 11 strokes back of the leader Barnes, is shockingly listed at +1200 moneyline odds to the Arizona graduate's +1500 betting line. If Woods were to comeback and win the championship, it would be the greatest come from behind victory in US Open history.

The USGA will attempt, barring anymore rain showers, to squeeze in both the third round and final round of play today. Players are scheduled to begin teeing off at 7:30am ET this morning.
