2009 British Open Betting Odds & PredictionsTiger Woods headlines this year’s 2009 British Open, at Turnberry in jolly ole Scotland, from July 16-19 as two time Open Champion Padraig Harrington tries to win a third successive Claret Jug. This is the second time the British Open has been held at Turnberry. Tom Watson beat Jack Nicklaus by one shot in a contest which would become known at the "Duel in the Sun." PGA oddsmakers at Bodog.com have Tiger Woods as 2/1 favorite to win the 2009 British Open. Be sure to get your 2009 British Open Odds & Prediction in now at Bodog.com

Tiger Woods missed last year’s Open because of knee surgery and he’s raring to go this year. Tiger is a three time Open winner, first winning in 2000 at St. Andrews; his next Open win came in 2005 once again at St. Andrews and his last win came in 2006 at Royal Liverpool Golf Club. He too won back to back, just like Padraig Harrington. This year Tiger finished T-6 at the 2009 Masters and at the 2009 US Open.  He has made nine of nine cuts this year and has three wins. He won the 2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational, the 2009 Memorial Tournament and the 2009 AT & T National. He’s got five Top 10 finishes and six Top 25 finishes. Tiger currently ranks 8th in Eagles (Holes per) on the PGA Tour and currently averages a score of 69.28 per round. Tiger Woods is listed as 2/1 odds favorite to win his four British Open.

Sergio Garcia has had no luck this year, especially after he was dumped by his girlfriend Greg Norman’ daughter. This year he has made eight of ten cuts with no wins. His best finish was at the 2009 US Open where he finished T-10; he has two other Top-25 finishes. He does, however, do well at the Open Championships. He has six Top-10 finishes, from 2001-03 he finished Top-10 or better. He missed the cut in 2004 and rebounded from 2005-07 with two Top-5 finishes and in 2007 he was runner-up to Padraig Harrington after a playoff hole was needed. In 2008 he had awful luck finishing T-51. At this year’s first two majors Sergio finished T-38 at the 2009 Masters and T-10 at the US Open. Sergio Garcia is listed at 20/1 odds to win the 2009 British Open.

Padraig Harrington the two-time defending champ, three time Major winner, has been in anything but in championship form lately. At the last two Majors he has finished T-35 at the 2009 Masters and he failed to make the cut at the 2009 US Open. But given his resent slump, he won his third consecutive Ladbrokes Irish PGA Championship recently and has been practicing at Ailsa Course to find a little magic.
Allowed to use the course, instead of the practice area, for practice, Harrington and Torrance headed out to work on three holes and wound up playing 18 each of two days. “I would say he missed four fairways in all that time,” Torrance told The Scotsman. “I think I understood a bit of his thinking for the first time in 13 years. He hit two of the left and I said, ‘What happened there?’ He replied, ‘I just wanted to see what was over there, in case I happen to be over there in the tournament.’” Padraig Harrington is listed at 22/1 odds to win the British Open for the third consecutive time.

Sleeper Alert: Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland is a player to watch after he was the youngest player ever to reach the Top 50 in the World Golf rankings. This earned him a trip to the 2009 Masters only 18 months after turning pro. His first professional win came when he won the Dubai Desert Classic on 1 February 2009, this win took him to 16th in the world rankings. In the 2009 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, McIlroy reached the quarterfinals only to lose to Geoff Ogilvy 2 & 1. At the 2009 Masters he finished the tournament tied for 20th place, two shots under par for the tournament. Of the players to make the cut, McIlroy achieved the third highest average driving distance. McIlroy then returned to Europe and recorded two top 25 finishes leading up to his first U.S. Open. He finished fifth at the BMW PGA Championship and 12th at the European Open. McIlroy played in his second major as a professional at the 2009 U.S. Open. His final round of 68 (-2) helped him finish in a tie for 10th, his first top ten finish in a major. He has a big advantage this year at the Open based on his great play in Europe and his driving is superb. Rory McIlroy is listed at 22/1 odds to win his first British Open.
