2009 British Open Odds: The 138th Open Championship is set to tee off tomorrow morning at 1:30am ET tomorrow at the Turnberry Resort in Ayrshire, Scotland. Turnberry's Ailsa, a par 70 course, last hosted the British Open in 1994 when Nick Price won the second of his three majors by shooting a 13-under par 268. American golfer Kenny Perry, currently fourth in the World Golf Rankings, is listed at 40 to 1 to win his first major in Bodog.com's Kenny Perry 2009 British Open Odds. Amazingly, 48 year old Kenny Perry will be playing in just his sixth British Open when things get underway tomorrow morning. The Elizabethtown, Kentucky native last participated in the event in 2006 at Royal Liverpool Golf Course. His missed the cut at the tournament, marking the second time he had failed to advance in his five tournament entries. Perry's best finish at an Open Championship came in 2003 when he tied for eighth. He also scored top 20 finishes in 2004 and 2005, tying for 16th and 11th respectively. He has not taken part in the British Open the past two years. Kenny Perry enters this weekend's event after a 59th place showing at the John Deere Classic on July 12th. Prior to that tournament, he garnered his second win of the season by taking first at the Traveler's Championship on June 28th with a 22-under par 258. The win at the Traveler's was his second of the season and 14th of his career. Perry, presently third on the PGA Tour's moneylist, is having an outstanding year. In 17 events he has seven top 10 finishes as well as the two aforementioned wins. The Western Kentucky product came perilously close to winning the Master's this year but finished second to Angel Cabrera in a playoff. He was 12-under par for the event. Perry is scheduled to tee off at 2:36am ET Thursday morning with Greg Norman and Oliver Wilson. Bodog.com Kenny Perry 2009 British Open Odds: Tiger Woods 2/1 |
