2009 British Open Odds: Lee Westwood will be looking to capture his first major title when he starts play at Turnberry's Ailsa Course tomorrow. The native of England has had mixed success at the Open Championship, finishing as high as fourth place (2004) and as low as 67th (2008). Online bookmaker Bodog.com has Westwood listed at 28 to 1 betting odds to win the 138th British Open in their Lee Westwood 2009 British Open Odds.

Lee Westwood enters tomorrow's event 11th place on the European Tour's money list. The Worksop native has played in 15 events this year (European) and manufactured a 70.81 scoring average. Westwood's best result in five 2009 PGA tournaments was an 11th place showing at the Shell Houston Open in April. He took 43rd at this year's Masters and tied for 23rd at the U.S. Open with a 5-over par 285.

Westwood has one career win in 122 PGA events, but has finished inside the top 25 on 42 occasions.

After his solid showing at Bethpage Black, Westwood took part in European events the Open de France ALSTOM and the Barclays Scottish Open. The 36 year old took second at the Paris tournament with a 13-under par 271 and he tied for eighth at the Barclays at 10-under.

Westwood, who had his best finish in major last June in San Diego (third at the U.S. Open), is presently ranked 17th in the World Golf Rankings. In nine previous British Open appearances, he has missed the cut three times. Other than his fourth place finish in the 2004 Open, Westwood has never placed inside the top 30 in an Open Championship outing.

Westwood is scheduled to tee off at 4:09am ET tomorrow morning, he will be grouped with Tiger Woods and Ryo Ishikawa.
