2009 British Open Odds: Martin Kaymer, the 24 year old from Dusseldorf, Germany, is in South Ayrshire, Scotland this week to compete in his second British Open. The young golfer is scheduled to tee off at 7:58am ET tomorrow morning; he will be grouped with 2009 U.S. Open winner Lucas Glover and 2002 British Open winner Ernie Els. Martin Kaymer has spent most of his time on the European Tour this year, starting in 13 events for the organization. He as recorded two wins, one second place finish, four top 10s, and eight top 25 finishes. He has taken part in eight PGA Tour tournaments, but has not had near the success as an 11th place result at the Quail Hollow Championship was his best finish. Kaymer missed the cut at both the U.S. Open and The Masters. 

However, Kaymer, who will be playing in his seventh major, has won the last two European Tour events. He took first place at the Open de France ALSTOM in Paris and he followed that victory up with another win at the Barclays Scottish Open on July 12th. The 24 year old shot a 13-under par score of 271 in France while hitting a 15-under par 269 in Glasgow last weekend.

Kaymer, who has missed the cut in four of the six majors he has entered, finished 80th at the British Open last year. He tied for 53rd in last year's U.S. Open in San Diego.

Kaymer, who is currently ranked 11th in the World Golf Rankings, has four career wins on the European Tour. His best result in two years on the PGA Tour is fifth, which he earned in November of last year at the OMEGA Mission Hills World Cup.
