2009 British Open Results: The 138th Open Championship took a crazy turn today as the world's top ranked golfer, Tiger Woods, missed the cut at the Turnberry Resort in Ayrshire, Scotland. Equally as stunning is the fact that 59 year old Tom Watson is sharing the lead with American Steve Marino at 5-under par through the first two rounds of play. Watson has not won a major since 1983 and Marino has never won a PGA Tour event. Pick the winner of the 2009 British Open, head over to Bodog.com today. Tiger Woods was off his game yesterday, shooting a 1-over par 71 in his first go round at Turnberry, but nobody saw this coming. Woods was solid through the first seven holes today, even recording a birdie on the seventh, but the wheels came off on the par 4 eighth for the 14 time major winner. The 33 year old went on to bogey nine, double bogey 10, bogey 12, and double bogey 13. He nearly rallied to make the +4 cut after scoring birdies on 16 and 17, but he was not able to get a third straight birdie on the 18th. He finished the day with a 4-over par 74. Today marked just the second time that Woods has missed the cut at a major and just the 15th time he has missed the cut in 246 PGA events played. Tom Watson's moment of rejuvenation appeared to be over when the eight-time major winner mixed in five bogeys with two birdies on the Ailsa Course's front nine this morning. However, Watson gathered himself after the turn and recorded birdies on 11, 16, and 18. The Kansas Citian, who won the Open Championship at Turnberry in 1977, dropped a miraculous 60 foot putt on the 18th to put him in a tie with Steve Marino atop the leaderboard. Marino, who did not play at The Masters or the U.S. Open, shot a 68 today to compliment his first round score of 67. The 29 year old has played in 21 PGA events this season and recorded three top 10 finishes, but he has never won a major. In fact, he has made the cut at a major just one other time in his career, the 2008 PGA Championship.
