Stewart Cink, who was listed at 33 to 1 betting odds at Bodog.com after the first round of play, finished the first 18 at 1-under par after scoring a critical birdie on the 17th. Watson fell to 2-under for the tournament when he hit a bogey on the 18th hole, in the process drawing even with the Georgia Tech product and creating the need for a four hole playoff.

Cink dominated play once the pair began the extra session as Watson showed some signs of fatigue. The 36 year old hit par on the fifth hole, which was the first hole of the playoff, while Watson scored his second consecutive bogey. Cink then went on to hit another par on the par three sixth. Watson stayed in the hunt of the four hole aggregate with a miraculous par save on the hole, but double bogeyed the 17th, allowing Cink to secure the Claret Jug. The 6'4" Cink finished a 2-under par 14 in the four hole playoff.

Cink, who has five career wins in 351 events played, has finished as high as three in the U.S. Open, The Masters, and the PGA Championship. He placed sixth in the 2007 British Open, but missed the cut at the event three out of the last four years.
