Canada’s largest golf tournament gets underway, Thurs July 23-26, as the RBC Canadian Open tees off @ Glen Abbey GC, in Oakville, Ontario. Mike Weir and Stephen Ames look to become the first Canadian to win the Open since Pat Fletcher in 1954. PGA oddsmakers at SBGglobal.com have Camilo Villegas as +950 moneyline favorite to win the 2009 RBC Canadian Open. Be sure to get your RBC Canadian Open Odds & Predictions in now at SBGglobal.com
Camilo Villegas has made 13 of 15 cuts this year with no titles, but a third place finish at the 2009 Buick Invitational. He has two other Top 10 finishes, at the 2009 WGC-CA Championship he finished T-5 and at the 2009 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship he finished T-9. Villegas finished T-13 at the 2009 Masters, finished T-33 at the 2009 US Open and T-13 at the 2009 British Open. He ranks T90th in Putting Average on the PGA Tour and is ranked 32nd in FedEx points. Camilo Villegas is listed as +950 moneyline favorite to win the RBC Canadian Open.
Mike Weir almost won his homeland Open in 2004 after a three hole playoff with Vijay Singh. He had a 25-foot shot for eagle on No. 18 in the first hole of sudden-death, and a 5-foot shot on No. 17 at the second playoff hole. On the third playoff hole, Weir put his third shot into the water after a horrid drive and lay-up, and Singh was safely on the green in two. While Singh cemented his legacy as world's best player (he overtook Tiger Woods as the world's number one player), Weir's career has never been the same after the collapse in Canada. This year Weir has two Top 3 finishes. He finished T-2 at the 2009 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and T-3 at the 2009 Bob Hope Classic. He has two Top 10 finishes; he finished T-10 at the Memorial Tournament and T-10 at the US Open. At the 2009 Masters he finished T-46; at the 2009 US Open he finished T-10 and missed the cut at the British Open. He ranks T23rd in Putting Average on the PGA Tour and is ranked 24th in FedEx points. Mike Weir is listed at +1650 moneyline odds to win the RBC Canadian Open.
Retief Goosen has made 12 of 13 cuts this year with one win and two Top 10 finishes. He won the 2009 Transitions Championship; he finished third at the 2009 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and recently finished T-5 at the 2009 British Open. Goosen missed the cut at the 2009 Masters and finished T-16 at the US Open. He is a two time Major winner, winning the US Open in 2001 and 2004. He ranks T75th in Putting Average on the PGA Tour and is ranked 16th in FedEx points. Retief Goosen is listed as +1500 moneyline odds to win the RBC Canadian Open.
Anthony Kim has made 11 of 15 cuts with two Top 10 finishes. He finished T-2 at the 2009 Mercedes-Benz Championship and third at the 2009 AT & T National. At the 2009 Masters he finished T-20; at the 2009 US Open he came in T-16 and he missed the cut at the British Open. His only two wins on the PGA Tour came at the 2008 Wachovia Championship and the 2008 AT & T National. He ranks 6th in Putting Average on the PGA Tour and is ranked 36th in FedEx points. Anthony Kim is listed at +1350 moneyline odds to win.
