2009 Buick Open Update: The players are through the second round of play at the 2009 Buick Open and Aussie John Senden is atop the leaderboard with a 14-under par score of 130. Tiger Woods, who was an 11 to 8 betting odds favorite when the tournament began, is currently tied for fifth place after shooting an amazing second round score of 63.
Woods shot a 71 in yesterday's opening round of action as he hit bogeys on holes 2, 5, and 15. The round, while a shot under par, left the world's top ranked golfer several rungs down the leaderboard. Tiger, however, attacked the Warwick Hills course today, recording nine birdies to just one bogey. His 9-under par score of 63, the best of the second round, left Woods 10-under for the tournament.
Sitting in second and third, respectively, are Americans Michael Letzig and Vaugh Taylor. Letzig is 12-under for the tournament after shooting a 67 yesterday and a 65 today. The 29 year old from Richmond, Missouri is listed at 28 to 1 betting odds at Bodog.com in their revised odds to win the 2009 Buick Open. Taylor is one stroke back of Letzig after shooting a 4-under par 68 this afternoon.
Other notables include Jim Furyk, Bill Lunde, and Y.E. Yang. Furyk, currently at 14 to 1 odds to win the tournament, is tied for 37th at 6-under par while Lunde is locked up with Taylor for third. Yang, who is 27th on the Tour money list, shot a 3-under 69 today to put him at 10-under through two rounds.
2009 Buick Open action resumes tomorrow morning at the Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
