2010 PGA Championship Results: The third round of the PGA Championship concluded today with California's Nick Watney atop the leaderboard with a 13 under par 203. Watney, who was listed at 40 to 1 betting odds at Bodog.com to win the PGA, will tee off at 2:40pm ET tomorrow in hopes of capturing his first career major. Trailing Watney by three strokes heading into the final 18 at Whistling Straits are Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy, both of which are sitting at 10 under par.
Nick Watney, who currently ranks 30th on the PGA Tour's moneylist, could add significantly to his $1,784,084 in earning with
a win in Kohler tomorrow. The Fresno State product has put himself in a good position to do just that after shooting a six under par 66 this afternoon.
Watney, presently listed at 8 to 1 odds to win the 92nd PGA Championship, blew past a stellar list of competitors with his performance, which featured eight birdies, including five on the front nine. The 29 year old, who placed seventh at both the Masters and British Open this year, has finished under 70 in every round of the tournament thus far, posting a first round 69 and a second round 68.
American Dustin Johnson remained in tight contention after shooting a 68 yesterday followed by a 67 today, giving him a three round total of 206. Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy tallied the exact same numbers as Johnson on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to secure a tie for second place. Johnson and McIlroy, who are 26 and 21, respectively, are both seeking their first career major title.
Tiger Woods has resembled his old self at times this week, but he still has some serious work to do tomorrow if he hopes to lock up his 15th major. Woods is presently tied for 37th at three under par for the tournament after shooting an even par 72 today.
