As golf’s US Open at Oakmont draws ever nearer the ace picking team at Point-Spreads.com almost choked on their breakfasts when they noticed in form KJ Choi was still available at 100/1 with Bodog.com. The 2007 US Open of Golf will take place at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania from June 14th though the 17th.
The Korean swinger cruised home to win the weekend’s Memorial event in Ohio and with just over a week to go until the year’s second Major there can’t be many more in-form players on the planet.
The Texas-based golfer has proved himself to be extremely mentally tough since becoming a PGA Tour regular at the turn of the century and that will stand him in great stead for an Oakmont course that many experts are predicting will be the “toughest US Open set up of all time”.
As Oakmont approaches we’ll have plenty more astute advice at Point-Spreads.com but with the course set up so tough we are convinced it is going to be a case of survival and an ability to graft in the face of adversity.
With that in mind, Irish scrapper Padraig Harrington will relish those conditions. 33/1 is the general quote for the Dubliner and with confidence high after landing May’s Irish Open we expect a strong effort from a man who has already won twice on the PGA Tour.
Harrington is reported to have spent time practicing at the course recently and his typically diligent preparation will see him at the business end of things.
