The Boston Bruins come into this night of NHL Picks on a four game losing streak that dropped their overall record to 28-23-0-5. The losing streak has knocked them out of the final playoff spot one point behind the Buffalo Sabres. The Bruins have really struggled on offense as they rank only 22^nd in the NHL scoring an average of 2.57 goals per game. In the off season the Bruins focused on improving their goaltending and it appears that it has gotten more consistency out of the position as they rank 12^th in the NHL giving up an average of 2.68 goals per game. However, back on Tuesday, the Carolina Hurricanes scored the game's first three goals before Shawn Thornton netted two goals in the span of 27 seconds late in the gamet. The Bruins couldn't score again, and lost 3-2 to the Hurricanes. Pittsburgh has won its last four meetings against Boston including a 5-4 win in Boston back on December 20.
