This is the first of a home-and-home series for these two, and the Montreal Canadiens have the upper hand over the Philadelphia Flyers when they go head-to-head. Montreal has won four of their last five meetings with Philadelphia, including both games this season in which the Canadiens have outscored the Flyers 9-3. Montreal and Philadelphia have been going back and forth as the top power-play teams in the league, so it is safe to say that penalties will play a huge role not only in Saturday's game, but Sunday as well. Montreal's month has gotten off to a rough start with four losses in six games ahead of Wednesday's trip to Florida, and it was made worse when Tom Kostopoulos and rookie Ryan O'Byrne were charged with stealing a woman's purse outside a Tampa Bay nightclub.
Philadelphia has its own off-ice woes, as star forward Simon Gagne received the third concussion of his career last weekend. Gagne will hopefully only miss a couple of weeks, but because of his history, it is difficult to predict his status. The Canadiens should pull out a close win due to their home-ice advantage, but they have to match the Flyers' physical style of play, especially early in the game.
