The Florida Panthers are just the opposite of the Maple Leafs as they come into this game loser of four of their last five games. Their current losing streak as dropped them to 28-29-0-8 and into a tie with Toronto near the bottom of the Eastern conference standings. The Panthers also didn’t stay pat as the trading deadline approached hoping to shake things up as they traded Ruslan Salei, its second-highest scoring defenseman, to Colorado for defenseman Karlis Skrastins and a 2008 third-round pick. Their current defensive performance has them ranked only 21st in the NHL giving up an average of 2.85 goals per game. One thing in their favor tonight is the fact that goaltender Tomas Vokoun is 3-1-1 in five career starts versus the Maple Leafs with a 1.60 goals against average. The Panthers have had trouble bouncing back from losses all season long as they are 6-12 ATS in home games after having lost 2 of their last 3 games this season. But Toronto seems to be unable to repeat top performances as they are 2-9 ATS after a blowout win by 4 goals or more over the last 2 seasons.
