What’s happened to the Red Wings? Once heavily favored to go to the Cup Final, they now see their chances slowly fading away. They are 1-10 SU and they’ve averaged just 1.80 GAG in their last five games. Goalie Dominik Hasek hasn’t played since Feb 9th and Chris Osgood couldn’t stop a beach ball with half his defense injured. Chris Chelios might make his return tonight, thank god. The Red Wings are 21-7-0-2 at home and 15-10 over/under at home. The San Jose Sharks have three straight wins on the road during their seven game trip. They’ve averaged 3.0 GAG in their last three wins and they’ve managed two power play goals in three games. Their overall offense is good for a 26th ranked 2.6 GAG and their power play sits ranked 19th. The Sharks bread and butter is their defense. They’ve allowed 2 GAG in their last five games and their penalty kill has allowed two goals in five games. Overall their defense allows a low 4th ranked 2.4 GAG and they have the best penalty kill in the league. Goalie Evgeni Nabokov is solid in net with a 34-20-7 record with a 2.18 GAA and a .909 SVPCT. The Sharks are 20-8-1-2 away from home and 21-28 over/under. San Jose (34-21-3-5) at Detroit (42-17-1-5) Faceoff: Fri, Feb 29, 2008 7:30 PM ET Line: Betway.com Pick: San Jose 2.60 Bottom Line: The Red Wings will continue on their losing ways without their top defenseman in, not to mention their goalie situation. The Sharks play rock’em sock’em hockey. Get your NHL Pick in now! |
