The Buffalo Sabres who are battling the Rangers, Bruins, and Flyers for the last three NHL Picks playoff berths will face off versus the Montreal Canadians on their home ice.  The Sabres are also six points behind the Montreal Canadians in the Northeast Division but have has some recent success against them.  In fact, after losing the first two times they faced Montreal the Sabres have stormed back winning the last three meetings in a row.  Buffalo has been one of the hottest teams in the NHL as they are 6-3-1 their last 10 overall and are coming off an easy 8-4 win over the Nashville Predators.  It seems like their last minute trade got off on the right foot as Steve Bernier had two goals and an assist in his first game since being acquired from San Jose back on Tuesday.  It appears that the odds makers believe that the Sabres will continue their NHL Picks winning over the Canadians as BetOnline.com as Buffalo listed as a -125 home favorite on the money line and -1.5/+215 on the puck line.

The Montreal Canadians have been formidable on the road this season post a solid 19-9-4 SU NHL picks mark but Montreal has struggled recently going only 5-5 SU their last 10 games.  They are coming off a 5-1 home win over Atlanta back on Tuesday that snapped a two game losing streak.  As the trading deadline approached Chris Higgins continued to be named in a possible trade but he stayed put and the Canadians pulled a surprise deal that sent goalie Cristobal Huet to Washington for a 2009 draft pick, leaving 20-year-old rookie Carey Price as the No. 1 netminder.  It might have paid off as Price stopped 26 shots in his first game as the #1 goaltender.  He will have to step up tonight however as in his only other start versus the Sabres he gave up three goals and made 28 saves in a 4-2 loss on Nov. 23 in Buffalo.

Buffalo certainly seems to be able to carry hot streaks into multiple games as they are 14-5 ATS after a win by 2 goals or more this season but the Sabres will have to get a better performance out of goalie Ryan Miller as they are only 1-6 ATS in home games after a game where both teams scored 4 goals or more over the last 2 seasons.
