The Vancouver Canucks are peaking at the right time winning 12 of 14 games, while the LA Kings are winners of two straight, but losers of six out of ten. The LA Kings (28-28-2-7) host the Vancouver Canucks (34-22-2-6) for some hard hitting NHL action. The Canucks have won back to back in LA where they outscored the Kings 6-1. NHL oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com have the Canucks as -140 moneyline favs over the Kings with the over/under listed at 5 ½ goals. Get your Vancouver Canucks vs LA KingsSportsbook.com
The Canucks recently beat the Sharks 3-1 at home thanks to goals from Mats Sundin, Alex Elder and Kevin Bieksa. Goalie Roberto Luongo has been the main reason for the recent winning ways, Luongo is 12-1 in his last 13 games with a 2.41 GAA. His overall record is 23-8-2-3 with a 2.42 GAA and a .917 SVPCT; he also has five shutouts on the season. Luongo has been at his best whenever he's played at Staples Center recently, winning four straight there with a 1.25 GAA and posting one of his five shutouts this season in 4-0 victory at Los Angeles on Oct. 30. Along with outstanding goaltending, Vancouver has gotten balanced offensive production during its four-game win streak, with eight players scoring as Canucks have outscored opponents 12-5. With both Chicago and Calgary losing again Sunday, the Canucks look to move up from their current fifth-place standing in the West. Daniel Sedin said “We are playing the best we have played all year. Everyone is confident going out there and we’re getting a lot of scoring from a lot of different sources.” The Canucks will also get a boost with 13 players mom’s joining them on their three game road trip. They won’t want to let them down.
The Kings recently beat the Wild 4-3 at home thanks to goals from Kyle Quincey, Kyle Calder, Anze Kopitar and Edward Purcell. The Kings power play has scored a goal or more in nine of their last ten games, while their penalty kill hasn’t allowed a goal in back to back games, or five kills. Goalie Jonathan Quick has an overall record of 15-11-1 with a 2.62 GAA and a .909 SVPCT with three shutouts. The Kings will pose an interesting challenge tonight. They’re only five points from a playoff spot and are coming off consecutive victories over Dallas and Minnesota. They have three players — Anze Kopitar, Alexander Frolov and captain Dustin Brown — with 50 or more points.
